Trader Joe’s Hack: Easy Cream Cheese Stuffed Everything Bagel Pull-Apart Bread

by Shaina

Ever watch Shark Tank? It’s a pretty cool show. People come up with business proposals and try to get funding from one of the investors on the show. I don’t watch it often but a couple years ago I saw the cutest little cream cheese stuffed bagel ball snacks. The company is called Bantum Bagels and they sell stuffed bagel balls in all different flavors. According to Google they are one of Shark Tank’s most successful food items yet.  I found them at Target and gave them a shot, even though they had a pretty hefty price tag. 5 dollars for 6 small bagel balls.  I totally see why people buy them though. They’re delicious!

I continued to buy them, as they made a pretty good on the go breakfast while I was in college, but I always felt guilty paying nearly a dollar per bagel ball knowing if I put in the effort I could make and freeze them myself but lets be real… I really didn’t have the time for that. Once I got my degree I stopped buying the delicious little bagel balls and opted for the more affordable bag of bagels and tub of cream cheese to eat through out the week.

I was scrolling through my Pinterest the other day and I came across a couple everything bagel pull-apart bread recipes. I’ve had the Everything But The Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe’s collecting dust in my pantry for nearly a year now not knowing what to do with it. This looked like a cool idea and totally reminded me of Bantum Bagels Stuffed Bagel Balls, which was exciting, but when I clicked on the link I realized the recipes all called for homemade dough. Total let down. I wanted something quick and easy to make. Not something that was gonna take 3 hours and make a giant mess in my kitchen.

So I got to thinking. Pizza dough isn’t that much different than bagel dough. What if I used the ready-made pizza dough from Trader joe’s and stuffed that with cream cheese? Sounded easy enough. I left out all the other crazy ingredients called for in the other recipes I found across Pinterest land and came up with my own super simple 5 ingredient cream cheese stuffed everything bagel pull-apart bread recipe. It turned out absolutely perfect! This is totally my new favorite fun breakfast recipe. Next I’m gonna try to make them with different flavors. Maybe jalapeño cheddar or cinnamon raisin. The possibilities are endless!

Notes

One bag of dough made about 13 balls. If you want more than 13 bagel balls, you'll need two bags of dough.

The Everything But The Bagel Seasoning is pretty salty on its own so I found it was better to used unsalted butter. If you choose to use salted butter its still good, just a wee bit too salty for my liking.
